LKBEN11582: When to choose which version of BSD? A quick help.
Symptom
You need to choose a version of BSD for your server or workstation.
Cause
Choosing can be difficult.
Solution
The choice between OpenBSD, NetBSD and FreeBSD can be difficult. All these operating systems are Unix like and based on Berkeley Software Distribution. (BSD)
OpenBSD has the main focus on security and has a "secure by default" philosophy. For NetBSD the portability is a major goal and FreeBSD has the better hardware compatibility and therefore can be called a bit more "universal".
These are the 3 main derivatives of BSD but there are many others. Have fun.
