LKBEN11602: Where is the tilde (=swung dash or ~ ) on my Mac?


Symptom

You use iTerm or terminal and want to cd to your home folder.

Cause

The keyboard on the Mac is different.

Solution

To type in the tile you use the Option-Key and press n, than you press space. By doing this you can enter "cd ~" in your terminal and this will change directory to your home folder. This can also be done by just "cd".

Examples:

cd ~

cd ~/Downloads

cd ~/Qt/6.3.1/macOS/bin
