LKBEN11713: How to set date and time from the command or terminal on MacOS?

Symptom

After you drained your battery completely, your date and time is set incorrect.

Cause

This is by design.

Solution

When you drained your battery completely, your Mac can loose its date and time setting. The "set automatically" will not work when the difference is to big. Therefor you ony have two possibilities to correct the situation.

  1. Change the date and time setting to manually. System Settings -> General -> Date & Time.
  2. Change the setting via the terminal with sudo rights.
sudo sntp -sS time.apple.com

Hope this helps
