Solution

Nginx is an open source webserver. To install nginx on rocky linux, we use the dnf package manager.

First we make sure the system is up to date:

sudo dnf update

To install nginx you can use the following command:

sudo dnf install nginx

When this command is ready, the nginx service can be started by the systemctl command.

sudo systemctl start nginx

# and we can explicitely check the webserver with:
sudo systemctl status nginx

To check if the ports are in use, you can use nmap.

Hope this helps.
