LKBEN10875: What does Link warning LNK4089 mean, and how can I avoid it?

You would like to get rid of LNK4089 because you do not know where it comes from anyway.

Solution
This warning means that you are linking against a library and the linker has detected that you are not really using any of the libraries functions. Most of the time you will get this warning while building release builds. This is because the /OPT:REF switch, which is set by default for release builds, will try to get your executable as small as possible by avoiding linking in unnecessary dll's. The result is a smaller executable which is not a main concern for debug builds. You can tell the linker to ignore this by adding /IGNORE:4089 from the command line. You can change this in your "Settings dialog" of your project.
