LKBEN10943: How to resolve MX records from a dns server with nslookup for a domain to find the mail server.

Symptom

You would like to know the MX record for a certain domain.

Cause

none

Solution

You can use the nslookup command from linux and set the type to MX:

nslookup
> set type=mx
> lubby.org
Server:         192.168.123.3
Address:        192.168.123.3#53

Non-authoritative answer:
lubby.org       mail exchanger = 20 mx01.kundenserver.de.
lubby.org       mail exchanger = 10 lubby.org.

Authoritative answers can be found from:
org     nameserver = TLD1.ULTRADNS.NET.
org     nameserver = TLD2.ULTRADNS.NET.
org     nameserver = TLD3.ULTRADNS.org.
org     nameserver = TLD4.ULTRADNS.org.
org     nameserver = TLD5.ULTRADNS.INFO.
org     nameserver = TLD6.ULTRADNS.CO.UK.
lubby.org       internet address = 87.106.55.67
