LKBEN11548: Where is the personal configuration file for the MyDriveControl software?
Symptom
You need to find your configuration.
Cause
You want to backup your configuration.
Solution
When the software is installed, it comes without configuration. When you use this software in an enterprise environment, your administrator might distribute a preconfiguration to your client. The preconfiguration comes in a JSON file and it is located in the installation directory. This file does not have to exist.
Your personal configuration file will only be created the first time you save your config. If you start the software and never save a configuration, you will have no configuration file.
Under normal conditions, the file will be stored in the following directory:
C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Local\Lubby\MyDriveControl and is called MyDriveControl.cfg. This path is known in windows as %localappdata%. The following command, typed in a cmd, will bring you directly to the folder, the configuration is located in:
cd %localappdata%\lubby\MyDriveControl
You can also use explorer and enter:
%localappdata%\lubby\MyDriveControl
You can copy this file to another computer and it will work, when the software version is the same on both computers.
This configuration file is a binary file and you cannot edit it. If you are thinking carefully, this is where the password is located in. We do not use full encryption but the password is not readable. If your hard drive is encrypted, which is the case for all the computer in the UEM project in Schleswig-Holstein, this can be considered safe. If your drive is not encrypted and you need high security, you should not use this version of the software.
