LKBEN11604: How to check System Integrity Protection on macOS?


Symptom

You need to know if SIP is enabled or disabled.

Cause

System Integrity Protection is a security feature of macOS.

Solution

System Integrity Protection prevents execution of unauthorized code. It might be necessary to disable SIP temporarily for a developer who needs to install system extensions.

You can use the csrutil to do there tasks.

To check the status:

csrutil status

This should say something like:

System Integrity Protection status: enabled.

To disable you use:

csrutil disable

To enable SIP:

csrutil enable
