LKBEN11629: Active Directory Account is locked shortly after password change.

Symptom

You changed your password and after some time the account is locked out.

Cause

This can be caused because the system is using outdated credentials in the background.

Solution

Most of the time your system is still using outdated credentials and logges on in the background. This migt be the cause of the problem. To view the credentials you can use the following command:

cmdkey /list

This will show all the credentials the system uses. Check for domain accounts with "domain\username". You can also use the graphical tool "Windows Credential Manager" to change the password.

Here the credential manager on a german system:

Click on Credential Manager (= Anmeldeinformationsverwaltung)

Here you can change the password to the actual new password. This should solve your problem.

Have fun.
