LKBEN11634: How to set an application icon for a Qt application in main.cpp.

Symptom

You need to add a nice icon to your program.

Cause

Makes programs nicer.

Solution

To set an appllication icon, you can add a resource to your application and add the following line to your main.cpp before calling mainwindow.show();

#include "mainwindow.h"

#include <QApplication>

int main(int argc, char *argv[])
{
    QApplication a(argc, argv);
    a.setOrganizationName("Dataport");
    a.setApplicationName("DeviceResetTool");

    MainWindow w;
    w.setWindowIcon(QIcon(":/ResourcePrefix/Images/someicon.png")); //set icon
    w.show();
    return a.exec();
}

Please note: this is one way of doing it, you can load the icon later or load it from file. You do not need to put this line into the main.cpp etc.

Have fun.
