LKBEN11637: How to ask a certain DNS server to resolve a certain ip address or domain name?

Symptom

You need to resolve a certain ip address but want to have the answer from a specific DNS server.

Cause

Sometimes needed for troubleshooting name resolution.

Solution

To resolve a domain name or ip address on Windows, you can use nslookup.

To lookup a domain name you can use the following command:

nslookup lubby.org

This will give you an answer. To use a specific DNS server e.g. 8.8.8.8 you use the following command:

nslookup lubby.org 8.8.8.8

This can be interesting when you have DNS problems.

Have fun.
