LKBEN11746: Update of Windows 11 does not find the updates even with a TargetReleaseVersion and ProductVersion set correctly.

Symptom

You pushed a certain ProductVersion and TargetReleaseVersion via your UEM but the system does not find the files to upgrade.

Cause

This seems to happen to some percentage of systems.

Solution

When you push a TargetReleaseVersion (e.g. 23H2) an a ProductVersion (e.g. Windows 11) to your clients with your Unified Endpoint Mangement some systems might noch upgrade.

The first reason why some systems do not upgrade, might be the incompatibility with Windows 11. This can be the CPU or some other reason. To upgrade these systems, you need to push at lease one more parameter. This parameter is AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU.

Another reason why systems might not find the updates ist the parameter DisableWUfBSafeguards.

To find the updates, this parameter has to be set to 1. The parameter disables the upgrade locks of Windows Update to be bypassed.

The entry is found here:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\current\device\Update

Please note that this comes with a risk. There is no garantee that the upgrade will work and you might have hardware or software problems afterwards!

Have fun.
